Our Engagement Towards Green Marine
Program Summary

A member since 2007, the Société du parc industriel et portuaire de Bécancour is one of the founding partners of the Green Marine Alliance.

A unique voluntary environmental program designed for the marine industry, the Green Marine Alliance addresses several environmental issues and impacts, including water, soil, air, biodiversity, and community relations. The program includes more than 180 participants across North America, such as shipowners, ports, Seaway corporations, terminals, and shipyards.

Program Objectives

  • Reduce the environmental footprint and pollution risks;
  • Go beyond regulatory requirements;
  • Continuously improve the environmental performance of the marine industry.

Performance Indicators

As the owner of the port, the SPIPB is evaluated on seven performance indicators.

Credibility and Transparency

Every other year, SPIPB has its results evaluated by an external auditor. Following this audit, the CEO signs the self-evaluation report and we make our results public.

SPIPB is also committed to participating in the development and revision of the program.

The program’s requirements are available on the Green Marine Alliance website.
