Why choose Bécancour

Investing in Bécancour

Local, Provincial and Federal Taxation

The tax situation in Quebec is advantageous in regards of the low tax rates and its high competitiveness in terms of job creation and capital investments.

Tax on corporations

Tax rate – 2006
Federal 22.12
Provincial 9.90

Goods and Services Tax (GST)

The Canadian GST resembles the value added tax in effect in member countries of the European Economic Union. A company collects the GST from its clients; this corresponds to the result of the sales price of the taxable product or service multiplied by the tax rate of 5%. However, the company generally has a right to receive a refund or credit for the GST paid on products or services purchased for its commercial activities.

Quebec Sales Tax (QST)

The QST rate is 7.5% and applies to the sales price including the GST. As with the GST, businesses can generally be refunded for the QST paid on their purchases.

Furthermore, in the interest of simplifying the administration of consumption taxes, Quebec was the first Canadian province to harmonize its sales tax with that of the federal government. With respect to consumption taxes, therefore, Quebec companies now deal with a single level of government.

Municipal Taxes and Permits

The property assessment represents the market value of real estate.

The BUSINESS TAX is 6% of the rental value. The rental value of a business facility is based on the gross annual rental income that could be obtained by renting the establishment.

$1000 of work carried out (minimum $25, maximum $5000).
